ASIO TECH and HSBR represent in Áraktö (Hungary)

As the Ice Hockey World Championship has been cancelled, and while Giro d´Italia and even the Summer Olympic Games were postponed until later, the impossibility to represent the Czech Republic in many sports is a very frustrating affair. Therefore, the point is to focus to our technical feats abroad, beyond our now closed borders.

One of such things is represented by the typified WWTP named AS-HSBR denitri, which was in the second half of the last year installed in a Hungarian municipality, Ároktö. The project was financed by the Hungarian government and the plant treats wastewater from a part of the municipality and its local grammar school. The total WWTP’s capacity was designed to 140 PE (population equivalent) with the load of 8.4 kg BOD per day.

The facility consists of plastic tanks structurally reinforced for their placement in an earth fill without the necessity of concrete encasements. At the inlet section, hand operated trash racks were fixed. The process equipment was extended with the phosphorus precipitation unit and it contained the denitrification section.

As the Hungarian legislation contains more strict limits for water discharged to surface streams, they were determined for these operations as follows:

BOD                    25 mg/l,

COD                    75 mg/l,

Insolubles         50 mg/l,

N-NH4+              10 mg/l,

Ntotal                   25 mg/l, and

Ptotal                    5 mg/l.

In spite of extensive fluctuations in the inlet quantities, the results achieved by the WWTP supplied by ASIO met these limits without any problems. The percentual efficiency in contamination removal (i.e. the treatment efficiency) fluctuated above the 90% limit for all values with the exception of Ptotal. At this place, it is necessary to mention that even Ntotal was removed with the efficiency of more than 90%.
