Microplastics and plastics in small sizes are a threat to the environment due to their undesirable effects. Legislation, disposal and reuse technologies are emerging and effective and economical solutions for their management need to be found.
The project “Efficient removal of microplastics from the environment and their further use” with the working title MICROPLASTY is solved within the project of the 2nd call of the National Centre of Competence Polymeric Materials and Technologies for the 21st Century (hereinafter referred to as NCK POLY-ENVI21), which is co-financed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the National Centres of Competence programme.
Microplastics and plastics in small sizes are a threat to the environment due to their undesirable effects. Legislation, disposal and reuse technologies are emerging and effective and economical solutions for their management need to be found. From a commercial point of view, several technologies will be developed to capture microplastics from the aquatic environment and their concentration in suspended solids streams. The technologies will be replicated in both municipal and industrial sectors. The same applies to technologies for the reuse and recycling of microplastics, for which technologies for the preparation and production of products from separated microplastics will be developed and validated. The aim is therefore to develop technologies for the capture of microplastics and to quantify the effectiveness of these technologies with added value, e.g. LCA analyses and reprocessing of separated microplastics into other products.
The project will generate a total of 11 RIV outputs - mostly utility models, validated technologies and functional samples. The project will generate a total of 11 RIV outputs - mostly utility models, proven technologies and functional samples. The project will be implemented in a consortium of ASIO TECH, spol. s r.o. (the main beneficiary), three academic institutions - Palacký University in Olomouc, UCT Prague and UTB in Zlín and three industrial partners - INOTEX, spol. s r.o, Plastikářský klastr z.s. and Fortemix s r.o. The project “Efficient removal of microplastics from the environment and their further use” No. N02000051 DP020 with the working title MICROPLASTY is solved within the project of the 2nd call of the National Centre of Competence Polymeric Materials and Technologies for the 21st Century. The duration of the project is from 07/2025 to 12/2028.
