Application of advanced electrochemical systems for specific wastewater treatment with high concentration of ammonia nitrogen

The project: „Application of advanced electrochemical systems for specific wastewater treatment with high concentration of ammonia nitrogen“ under acronyme ELCHEM is solved with financial support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under programme for support of applied research and experimental development ALFA in 2015 - 2017.

The main objective of the project is to design an innovative technology for treating specific types of wastewater, such as landfill leachates, digestate from biogas plants, wastewater from zoo, industrial wastewater with high concentration of ammonia nitrogen, using electrochemical processes. Treatment of these wastewater is often complicated and conventional technologies fail to reach required effluent limits given by relevant public authorities. On the other hand, electrochemical processes seem to be promising technologies for this type of wastewater. Developing technology could be a great alternative with advantages for various type of waste water consisting high ammonia volume.
