The project "Nanofibrous and polymer materials with antimicrobial protection" with the working title AMB is solved within the project of the 2nd call of the National Competence Center Polymeric Materials and Technologies for the 21st Century (hereinafter referred to as NCK POLY-ENVI21), which is co-financed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the program of the National Center of Competence.

The main goal of the DP is to propose a method of protecting polymer and nanofibrous materials from biofilm formation with the aim of increasing their useful properties, extending the period of their industrial applicability and reducing the pressure on the necessity of frequent renewal of the surfaces of these materials or their own replacement. This will lead to a reduction of the overall carbon footprint, a reduction in waste generation and a reduction in the energy intensity of the technological processes in which the given materials will be used. The sub-goals of the project are as follows:

- Design and verify the procedure for the preparation of nanofibrous materials for the production of filter nanofibrous membranes with increased resistance to biofilm growth by modifying the starting polymer with an organic antimicrobial component.

- Design and verify the procedure for the preparation of nanofibrous materials for the production of filter nanofibrous membranes with increased resistance to biofilm growth so that silver nanoparticles or other metal oxide-based nanoparticles will be built into the polymer system and firmly fixed.

- Design and verify the method of surface treatment of polymeric materials with a hybrid inorganic-organic sol-gel system, which will be modified in such a way as to ensure the fixation of the hybrid polymer on the treated surface and to significantly increase the effectiveness of the self-cleaning properties even with the contribution of fixed photoactive additives. The method of surface treatment will be adjusted so that it can subsequently also be used for nanofibrous materials.
