NOO2 - Development of an efficient oxygen elimination technology for reducing oxygen content in landfill gas for fuel quality

Project „NOO2 - Development of an efficient oxygen elimination technology for reducing oxygen content in landfill gas for fuel quality“ under acronyme NoO2 was solved under financial support of European Union for small and medium enterprises in 2014-2017.

The project was focused on development of a technology capable of reducing oxygen content in gases from renewable energy sources (especially from landfills), which was upgraded to the fuel quality (gas pipeline, CNG – compressed natural gas). All previously developed state of the art biogas purification technologies have a weak point in elimination of oxygen and hydrogen sulphide with a membrane technology, which is a complex process associated with environmental pollution and therefore with higher costs in the long run. The NOO2 project proposes an innovative solution of a multi-stage biological reactor for oxygen and hydrogen sulphide removal as well as other impurities contained in the landfill gas.

Consortium consisted of Universidad de Cádiz, Ateknea Solutions Catalonia, UTB Envirotec from Hungary, ARW Abfallmanagement from Austria, Biogastechnology V.B.T.S.GmbH & Co KG from Germany and ASIO Ltd.
