Degradation and toxicity reducing of problematic and persistent pollutants during treatment of waters by highly efficient reduction technologies

The project „Degradation and toxicity reducing of problematic and persistent pollutants during treatment of waters by highly efficient reduction technologies“ under acronyme Alnired is solved under financial support from the Ministry of Industry and the Trade through grant programme Aplikace in 2017 - 2019.

The project concerns a highly efficient reductive technology, which is able to rapidly degrade a wide range of halogenated persistent organic pollutants (POPs) into non-toxic and more easily biodegradable products. The basic goal of the project is to transfer the technology from laboratory scale to scale of operational technology and to offer economical and highly effective option for all commercial subjects, which solve issues of remediation of waters contaminated by POPs. The other goal of the project is increasing of the productivity and efficiency of research activities within collaboration of both commercial partners with research organization. The main project goals are:

  • To increase the decontamination effectiveness of contaminated water and wastewater in relation to the fulfilment of the prescribed limits,
  • To reduce the costs of rapid and effective degradation of problematic substances (by complete elimination or by increasing their biodegradability),
  • Reduction of fees for the excessive amount of pollutants discharged with wastewater,
  • To reduce the cost of acquisition and disposal of absorptive materials and
  • Preparedness for future demand for decontamination of water containing halogenated endocrine disruptors, will lead to the extension of the product portfolio of commercial partners of the project, increasing their attractiveness in terms of higher efficiency of decontamination, reduce financial costs and increase flexibility of usability. The technology will be less demanding for inputs and it will reduce waste production.

Considering the expected stricter emission limits for AOX and increased fees for their over-limit discharges, demands for the elimination of waste production, solutions of old environmental burdens and the need for preparedness for expected standards relating endocrine disruptors, the competitiveness of both commercial partners will be strengthened not only in the Czech Republic but also in abroad.

The project is solved by cooperation of GEOtest, a.s. and ASIO Ltd.
